Less silos. More collaboration.

How the Alliance is partnering with local organizations to build up our community.

This is the mindset of the Grand Rapids Downtown Alliance.

As a brand-new organization, the Alliance believes we have a role to play in the growth of our community. But it would be impossible to achieve our goals without collaborating, partnering with, and supporting other local organizations.

That's why it's important to have representation from different industries and organizations at the table for conversations around downtown. It's a key reason why we have such a diverse Board of Directors and a vastly talented group of committee members.

Throughout our volunteers are representatives from the City of Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, fellow nonprofits like KAXE and MacRostie Art Center, small businesses Wings n’ Willows and The Pines, large employers like Fairview Grand Itasca and North Homes, and even businesses outside of city limits such as Sugar Lake Lodge, just to name a handful.

To quote the youth, “all the cool kids are doing it.”

In addition, we always want to make sure we help the community understand everyone’s role in our efforts, especially when it comes to the following organizations:

As we evolve, we welcome the opportunities ahead to share our work with others, seek out new joint projects, and form more partnerships with local organizations.

We know this coordinated effort to help create a more vibrant downtown is long-term, and takes a village…but we have a pretty darn good one here in Grand Rapids.
